The retablo story reads:
Franke's mom, Salome, died at fiesta time in 1999. Franke died at fiesta the next year. When the preist said the last prayer at Franke's funeral, the sound of the birds filled the sanctuary, the sound of the birds filled the copia, the sound of the birds filled the people. They were preparing to sing, but Dolores stood up and said, “I don't think we need to sing, the birds have filled Franke's tree and are singing for him.” Then the birds flew from the tree forming a ribbon, taking Franke's spirit to heaven.
